This week we are excited to feature Jarod Harvey - Saskatoon Regional Director. The Saskatoon Region consists of Saskatoon Public School Division and the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Board of Education.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am a passionate physical education teacher starting year twelve. I am a proud father of two boys (ages 5 & 7) and husband to my wonderfully supportive wife, Jocelyn. Throughout the year I keep busy with coaching, both at school and the community and I am an active executive member of Saskatoon Search and Rescue. I have spent the last two years trying to convince Saskatoon teachers that I have an identical twin brother who teaches in Saskatoon.
Where are you from?
Saskatoon, but I spent nine years teaching in Southeast Saskatchewan.
Where do you teach?
Dr. John G Egnatoff Elementary School.
How long have you been a SPEA Member?
What is one word that describes what your classroom looks like?
Organized chaos (I cannot describe it in one word).
What is your favourite online resource?
Growing Young Movers website.
Share a quote from one of your students.
Mr. Harvey, one of the things that you taught me that I will always remember is 'happy wife, happy life'.
What is the most unique thing about your teaching?
Teaching the 'Harvey Slide' during just dance.
Who is your favourite athlete?
What is your favourite song on your iPod?
For those people who know me, they know that I can't honestly answer this question because I have never been able to remember the name of any song.
How can you support the members in your region?
By keeping them up to date with the most current trends in Physical Education. As well, I hope to support teachers with solutions to their PE challenges/concerns.
