The #PhysEdSummit started as an idea that would flip the traditional professional development opportunity on its head. We wanted to provide an opportunity for educators to feed the fire of their passion in between major conferences. It would be similar to an EdCamp (What is an EdCamp?) with slightly more structure and an online conference that could be available to anyone world-wide.
Everything about this PD opportunity was free – from the sessions offered to the guest speakers who presented (we did not pay them). The whole idea of the #PhysEdSummit wass to crowdsource a virtual conference. This was an opportunity for the online PE community to come together to create and participate in an event that would meet the PD needs of all #pegeeks!
The #PhysEdSummit is not intended to replace provincial, state, national or international conferences. There is something to say about the need for, and power of the face to face interactions and networking that happens at these conferences. We could never replace it. Our intentions are to keep the fire burning in the lull time, between major conferences, to keep all #PEgeeks connected, sharing and learning as a community!
It was broadcasted LIVE through Google Plus and Google Hangouts on Air on October 25th, 2014. We chose to use Google Hangouts on Air as all our sessions would be recorded and pushed to YouTube. The beauty of this format is that we were able to provide the online #PhysEd community with 8 hours of professional development in a two hour span.

YOU Are the Difference Maker
Please take some time to watch our AMAZING Keynote video by Andy Vasily. As Andy said in his keynote, you are the difference makers, and each and everyone of you reading this post right now should be proud of yourselves.
We utilized Google Docs to set up our conference program. We linked in all the session videos, the TodaysMeet and Twitter backchannels (What's a backchannel?), resource documents and presenter and moderator information. Click on the button below to access the program and view all the sessions!
We were very excited to have SPARK PE (www.sparkpe.org) sponsor the event and graciously donate some amazing prizes to four lucky participants who fill out the feedback survey by Halloween.
