RESOURCES AND WORKSHOPS

We have developed a number of resources and workshops that are available to schools. The focus is to enhance existing Quality Daily Physical Education (QDPE) and/or help schools become QDPE schools.

The following is a list of workshops that SPEA has available to your school or school division:

  1. Quality Daily Physical Education – this workshop provides participants a background on QDPE and introduces them to resources available through SPEA.
  2. Keeping Kids Active, Speed Stacks, Pedometers, Disc Golf and Keeping Everyone Active - any workshop combination can be provided by a SPEA Executive member - fees may be charged for substitute costs, mileage etc. Please call the SPEA office for more information.
  3. Equity – participants in this workshop will gain insight into the creation of an environment in physical education that will encourage all to participate and experience success.

The following is a list of resources that SPEA has available for members of our association:

  1. Keeping Kids Active Kits – these kits are available to all Saskatchewan schools on a three-week loan period at no charge to the school. The kits are full of innovative equipment supported by a manual (linked to the phys. ed. curriculum) that outlines a number of fun energetic activities.
  2. Speed Stacks – these kits are available to all Saskatchewan schools on a three-week loan period at no charge to the school. Get your school involved in the latest “craze” out of the U.S.A. where over 6600 schools are participating in the Speed Stacks cup stacking program. These kits or individual sets are available for purchase through the SPEA office.
  3. Pedometers – 30 pedometers in a kit with a resource manual to help motivate students to live healthy, active life styles. Three week loan period.
  4. Disc Golf - a basket and 15 discs (weighted frisbees) accompany this kit. This sport is active and can be played indoors or outdoors. Three week loan period.
  5. Keeping Everyone Active - created by Malinda Strueby and developed with a grant from Saskatchewan Lotteries; this kit was inspired on the idea of creating more equitable learning opportunities that focus on physical activities for a broad spectrum of people.  You will find this kit compliments the secondary school curriculum guidelines.  We have six kits to loan out on a 3 week rotational basis.

The kits of equipment can be booked through the SPEA office to use in physical education class(es) for a three-week period. The school is responsible for shipping costs (one way) and replacement costs of missing or broken items.

For further information click on the kit you are interested in our resources section. To book any of these resources, please contact the SPEA office at (306)656-4423.
