WHAT'S NEW

  • The SPEA/SHEA Conference 2010 is pleased to offer several opportunities that you may hear our keynote speaker Dr. John Ratey.
     If you are attending our conference as a delegate, you will be able to hear Dr. Ratey speak at our QDPE breakfast on Thursday May 6, 2010 at 7:15 a.m.to 10:15 a.m.which is included in your registration.  If you are not a conference delegate, you may call the SPEA office (306)656-4423 and purchase a ticket to the breakfast for $22.00.
  • SPEA,SHEA and the Saskatoon Public Schools are hosting a pre conference session with Dr. Ratey on Wednesday May 5, 2010 at the Sheraton Cavalier - Top of The Inn 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  The cost is $25.00 and entitles you to a free membership with either the Saskatchewan Physical Education Association (SPEA) or the Saskatchewan Health Educators Association (SHEA).  Please call the SPEA office (306)656-4423 for registration information.  This session is geared towards educators, health professionals, and all those in leadership roles to influence physical education and physical activity opportunities for children in the school environment.  This session will provide the science that supports how quality physical education and physical activity are critical to improving academic performance and the overall health of children.
  • SPEA,SHEA, Saskatoon Public Schools and In Motion are pleased to be hosting a Public Lecture with Dr. Ratey on Wednesday May 5, 2010 at the Sheraton Cavalier - Top of The Inn from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is a free session but a ticket is required.  Please contact Judy Seager for tickets at seagerj@spsd.sk.ca. (306)683-8401.  This free session is open to the general public and is worthwhile for parents, teachers, health educators and all those who wish to learn more about how exercise will supercharge your mental circuits to beat stress, sharpen thinking and enhance memory and much more.
  • 2010 OPHEA & PHE Canada Call For Presenters is currently looking for instructors who could offer workshops on the following topics; diversity and health and physical education, fundamental movement skills, linking health and physical education to the environment, building student leadership through sustainable daily physical activity, non-traditional activities and/or cultural games, successful intramural programs at the secondary level.  For more information and to access the application form visit: : http://www.phecanada.ca/toronto2010/eng/main.htm
  • Everyone Jump 2009/2010 - It’s a Resource, Music CD and Educational Challenge for Grade 5 classrooms! Now available in Saskatchewan! This unique, free program includes a manual, music CD and Educational Challenge.  The program builds awareness and knowledge of the importance of healthy lifestyle behaviours such as physical activity and healthy eating as a means of type 2 diabetes prevention. The first 10 educators to register for Everyone Jump 2009/2010 in Saskatchewan will receive a special gift to promote World Diabetes Day!   • SPEA has  Speed Stacks available for sale. Jumbo Stacks and Stack Spots are now available. Check out the Speed Stacks page and the Order Form. SPEA will mail Speed Stacks out of the province within Canada. Postage cost will be added to your invoice. Also check out the Speed Stack videos here.
  • Check out the list of workshops and resources that SPEA has available for your school or school division. We have Speed Stacks kits, Pedometer kits, Disc Golf, Keeping Everyone Active, and Keeping Kids Active kits available. Contact our Executive Director Holly Stevens.
  • SPEA members, please call the SPEA office at (306)656-4423 to book your resources. We offer 3 week rotations of our Speed Stack Kits(Gr. K-12), Pedometer Kits(Gr. K-12), Disc Golf Kit(Gr. 6-12), Keeping Everyone Active Kits (Gr. 6-12) and Keeping Kids Active Kits (Gr. K-6).
